Cutting and serving board gifts

by on Dec.30, 2012, under DIY, Woodworking

I had two more cousins that were married this year. I also made end grain cutting boards for them along with some serving boards. I used some purpleheart in the serving boards and tried the curve technique using the bandsaw. It turned out very well and glued up without any problems. The last picture is the first face grain cutting board I made and is similar to the serving board. I used maple, cherry, and purpleheart. I made a small stand for my aunt to display it on her counter.

Wedding Gift

For my cousin Maria’s wedding this summer I made an end grain cutting board. I thought it would be fitting because her husband is a chef. I used some 8/4 stock of cherry and soft maple. I finished it with General Salad Bowel finish. This left a very nice finish. The second item is a balancing wine holder made from some scrap cherry.
